The Shoot It Out basketball tournament is an idea that began in 1998. The first 3 tournaments were held in Tampa, FL at the University of South Florida every 3 years in 1998, 2001, and 2004. In 1998 the Tennessee Vols defeated Greenville Storm in the Finals to become the tournament's first champion while in 2001, the Dallas Bandits defeated Florida ODB in the Finals. Shoot It Out III was the largest tournament in its history. In the end, the lone survivor of 20 teams was NY D-Unit over the Toronto Assassins in the Finals. The tournament was moved to a new venue and city in 2008, Orlando. Twelve teams turned out and competed in what has been our most organized tourney at the Champions Sports Complex in Orlando, FL. Shoot It Out IV witnessed a dominating performance from the start by the Dallas Bandits in their first return since winning in 2001. They became the first team to win this event twice, making them 2/2 in Shoot It Out tournaments, in our brief history after defeating Toronto Flight in the Finals. This came as a result of a new decision that was made to make the tournament an annual stopping ground in FL for IndoPak teams interested in playing with the event possibly being moved around to a new city within our state every 3 years giving an opportunity to our guests to visit and explore more of the Sunshine State which down here we've grown to love! Last year was also the start of more individual recognition with awards for 5 First Team All Tournament players, 5 Second Team All Tournament players, a Slam Dunk Champion, and a 3 Point Shoot Out Champion to go along with the usual Finals MVP, 1st place, and 2nd place recognitions. This January the basketball tournament will run alongside our newest event, Lights Out, our new flag football tournament in Orlando, FL again. We're hoping to host a field of atleast 16 teams in both sports. Two individual skills contests will take place in each sport, a 3-point competition and slam dunk contest for basketball and an arm and leg challenge for flag football. We have added an Offensive MVP award, Defensive MVP award and a cash prize to go along with the individual skills contest awards. Hopefully you'll make plans to join us here in Central FL during the weekend. The IndoPak sports dream that became reality in the 80's due to the hard work put in by the respective tournament coordinators all around North America is shared here in FL with a lot of pride and this tournament is simply a way of saying thank you for giving us all the opportunities of enjoying these tournaments, leagues, etc., and giving us all something to talk and get excited about that we have a common interest in with all your leadership effort(s)

Looking forward to the weekend,
The Shoot It Out V volunteer staff.
